Born Virginia Ruth Egnor in Lincoln County, Dagmar was an accomplished actress and comedian who rose to fame during the early days of TV. She was widely known for her role on NBC's Broadway Open House, where her deadpan humor and clever delivery made her a fan favorite. Her image was iconic enough to be featured on the cover of Life magazine in 1951, cementing her place in TV history. Despite the brevity of her own show, Dagmar's Canteen, she maintained a successful career in nightclubs and summer theater even after her peak in the 1950s.
