The Pardee & Curtin Lumber Company, started in 1873, is the oldest continuously running lumber company in West Virginia. It built and operated several sawmills across the state, most notably in Nicholas and Webster counties, producing hundreds of millions of board feet of lumber from 1900 to 1945. The company also mined coal in Webster County between 1929 and 1959.
In 1955, it built the state’s first all-electric sawmill. Today, Pardee Resources Company no longer operates its historic mill. It mainly manages natural resources such as timber, coal, oil, and gas across 62,000 acres.
