Every summer, the State Fair in neighboring Fairlea brings an influx of traffic, musical acts, agricultural exhibits and contests, and food--lots of delicious food! While the State Fair was first held in Wheeling, this particular fair dates back even farther to when The Greenbrier Agricultural Society hosted its first annual fair in 1854. The fair has featured a wide variety of musical acts, including Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, Johnny and June Carter Cash, Tom Jones, Dolly Parton, Randy Travis, the Beach Boys, Alison Krauss, Nelly, Ludacris, and Kathy Mattea.
