Emily Hilliard was the first State Folklorist for West Virginia (2015-2021), a program of the West Virginia Humanities Council and supported by the National Endowment for the Arts. She authored Making Our Future: Visionary Folklore and Everyday Culture in Appalachia. She currently is Berea College's folklorist.
