Warren J. Woomer, a Charleston chemical engineer and industry historian, was senior principal engineer at Union Carbide's Institute plant. He was the works manager at Bhopal, India, 1980-82, and a member of the company's investigation team after the 1984 Bhopal tragedy. After retirement, he continued to operate the chemical industry consulting firm he started in 1990 and researched and wrote about Union Carbide history. He died January 21, 2018.
