Norman Jordan, a native of Ansted, co-founded the African-American Heritage Family Tree Museum and the African American Arts and Heritage Academy. His poetry has been anthologized in many books, including Wild Sweet Notes: Fifty Years of West Virginia Poetry. He died in 2015.
