About Joe William Trotter Jr.

Joe William Trotter Jr., originally from McDowell County, is Giant Eagle Professor of History and Social Justice at Carnegie Mellon University. He was educated at Carthage College, Wisconsin, with an M.A. and a Ph.D. in U. S. history from University of Minnesota. His publications include Coal, Class, and Color: Blacks in Southern West Virginia, 1915-32 and African American Workers and the Appalachian Coal Industry.
